Happy Father's Day!

Unfortunitely Tony had to work today, so we celebrated father's day last night with a barbeque at my parent's house. A fun time was had by all, everyone ate and spent the afternoon hanging out and watching Jayden play in his pool that uncle Chad and Amanda bought for him. He is still a little hesitant about the cold water, but he will at least walk around in it and play with all of the various blow up toys that came with it. If you know my brother you know he couldn't just buy a simple blow up pool, he had to get him the top of the line activity center, complete with an inflatable slide, dolphin ring toss, sea turtle, flower, and a palm tree sprinkler system!

It seems like in the last week he has picked up a ton of new fun things! He now waves bye, blows kisses (so sweet!!) and gives high fives. He also started saying da (dog) and his new favorite thing ba (ball). We bought him a small soccer ball and basketball at target in the 2 for 5 spot the other day and he is obsessed with them! He walks around all day holding at least one of them (sometimes both) saying ba, ba, ba, and grinning!

Yesterday his second molar popped through, so two down, two to go! Thankfully they don't seem to bother him too much, he is such a laid back little dude, nothing seems to bother him too much, the only time he usually gets grouchy is when it's time to go to sleep. He is starting to have an occasional flip out when he doesn't get what he wants or we take something away from him. He is still pretty easy to distract though, so it hasn't been to much of an issue at this point.

Yesterday was Jayden's first birthday! I can't believe it has been a year already, it really just doesn't seem possible! This birthday has had me reminiscing all week about what was going on one year ago, what a tremendous experience having a baby is! Being parents has changed both Tony and I in many ways, and all for the better.

Saturday we had his party at my moms house, and fun was had by all! We were joined by many friends and family, and Jayden was a champ and stayed in a good mood all afternoon, even though he did significantly less napping due to the festivities. I will post pictures of the party as soon as my mom finds her camera...but please enjoy the progression pics I posted, can you believe how much he has changed?

It's official...

We have a walker on our hands!!! Jayden has been taking a few steps at a time by himself for about 2 weeks, and will walk forever just holding onto one of your fingers, but last night we were across the hall at his uncle Chad's new apartment, and he walked clear across the living room all by himself! I would love to say that it was because he wanted to walk to me, but in all honesty he didn't do it until he saw the cookie I was eating! LOL! Will walk for food! Then he walked back and forth between Chad, Tony and I several times, and has continued to do it today as well. He even showed off his new skills for everyone at playgroup this morning, and it was a packed house so lots of people got to see, he is very proud of himself, he gets where he is going and just grins and laughs like it is the coolest thing ever, it's completely adorable!

Finally an update!

Well, here it is again, and it has been months since I last updated. I'm happy to say we are all doing well, and the new year has brought many new things to share! Jayden is thisclose to walking...he has started standing on his own and is cruising along the furniture with ease. He is so brave, he just lunges from one thing to the next, and recently has started throwing some steps in there!

He has a mouthfull of teeth, 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top. It was amazing to me how fast they came, he got his 1st top one on christmas day, and then the week of Tony's birthday he got 3! His 4th top one just came through today.

We are slowly transitioning him to table food, and he loves to be able to feed himself, so much so he has me scrambling to find things that we can all eat for dinner and other meals throughout the day!

In other exciting news, Tony and I are engaged!! He proposed on a suprise carriage ride through the plaza on valentines day. It was incredibily romantic, and my ring is beautiful! The guy driving (I don't remember his name, but the horses name was Gus!) shared with us that he had recently celebrated his 51st wedding anniversary, so hopefully that is a good sign! We originally were thinking of having our wedding in october, but I have my heart set on having it at the chapel on campus, and it was fully booked already, so now the plan is may of '09. It seems weird to finally be planning the wedding that I have been planning in my head forever! More details will come as we get things in order.

As always, I will share some pics as soon as I find the software for the scanner...I have to reinstall it again...now that I finally have my laptop back from HP!

Happy Holidays!

This time of year is always busier than ever, but between all the snow and the colds that both Jayden and I have acquired, I have some time to update, finally, before the new year. We have been busy lately getting ready for the holidays, lots of shopping, cooking and baking has been going on. Tony and I held our first annual cookie showdown, which ended in a tie...Tony won the first round, with his white chocolate macedamia nut cookies, and I won the second round with my chocolate crinkles. Mom, Chad and Amanda were the judges, and I think they had the tie planned in advance so no ones feelings would be hurt!

Jayden is getting bigger and bigger by the second I swear, he is accomplishing feats at a tremendous pace! He has mastered what can only be described as a scoot, its not quite crawling, and not a traditional army crawl either, but it definitely gets him where he wants to be! He won't go off the carpet yet, just scoots to the edge and looks at you, like ok, pick me up now! He has pulled up a few times on Tony and I, and will stand up for quite a while if he can hold onto something (the couch is a favorite at the moment). We are starting to think he may just walk before he ever does a traditional crawl.

He jabbers non stop, which is adorable, and I think he is starting to put things together with the words, he knows Tony is dadadah, and he only says mama when he is upset, sleepy, or hungry, so I'm thinking he knows thats me too, because thats when he wants me. He says nana too, which sometimes corresponds with nursing...so we are going with it and asking if he wants to nana, I still sometimes slip and ask if he wants some booby, but i'm trying! We are also working on the signs for more, milk, momma, and daddy. Tony is much better at remembering this than I am, so if he picks them up I will give him all the credit!

He has his two bottom teeth, and is currently working on a top one. Nursing has been interesting since the teeth have come, but it really hasn't been bad, nothing to be scared of like I had thought! He's such a happy, easy going little guy, even the teething hasn't changed his demeanor much.

Lots of great things happened to me this month, I turned 25 on the 2cnd, which was celebrated with a yummy breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, and later a night out on the town with Tony, Derrick, JD and Kyla. We had a great time, and called it a night when mom called to say Jayden obviously didn't think sleeping with grandma was nearly as great as sleeping with mommy and daddy. I also finished another semester of school, only 2 more to go and I will finally be the proud owner of a degree! I still can't believe it has taken me as long as it has, but knowing what I want to do finally has helped a lot.

Tony finished up coaching last month, Baker ended the season with a winning record for the first time in a quite a while, so he was very excited about that! He really enjoyed coaching and is hoping to be asked back for next season.

We also started doing Parents as Teachers, which has been great for all of us. They have playgroups twice a week and Jayden is very lucky becuase he gets to bring both of his parents! We have really enjoyed getting to meet some other families with children around Jayden's age, and he loves getting to be around all the other kids.

We are looking forward to the new year and have decided to make this next year a year to be healthier, by taking better care of ourselves and by living greener. It's something we need to do not only for ourselves, but for Jayden too.

my baby is growing up!

Jayden got his 1st haircut from his daddy this week! Seeing as he was developing bald patches at an alarming rate, we decided it was time to give it a little help and just shaved it. I'm sad to say I think his days of rocking the mohawk are over :( but his little bald head is growing on me, and lets face it, he's pretty darn cute no matter what you do to him!

Saturday night we went to watch Tony work his magic on the D-line at the baker-benedictine game, and helped cheer them on to another victory, go BU! Amanda and Athena went with us, which made it infinitely more fun for me. It's always nice to have other mommies to hang out with!

we're back!

The boss is crashed out on my lap, so I will finally update! I know I have been slacking, I will try to do better! Life has been crazy busy lately! I'm back to school full time at jccc working on my associates in early childhood, and Tony is still working full time and now he is coaching here at baker as well.

Jayden is growing and changing everyday, and everyday we both fall more and more in love with him! He has become increasing mobile, he has now mastered rolling in both directions, and when he is on his tummy he scoots and wiggles with ease. At his 4 month check up on 8/27 he weighed in at 14 lbs 9 oz and he was 25 1/2" long. He is also working on cutting his 2 bottom teeth, so far that hasn't caused too many problems, just lots and lots of drool!

This is more for my memory than anything else, but Jayden laughed for the 1st time last night! He was sitting on the boppy on my lap after he ate and I was trying to get him to burp by bouncing him, and I was singing "bouncy, bouncy!" at him, and he giggled! It was of course completely adorable...and he of course wouldn't repeat it no matter what Tony or I did! Grandma came over tonight and she got him to laugh again, how big my little man is getting!

Time flies when your having fun!

I can't believe Jayden is almost 3 months old already! I swear it just seems like yesterday that I was as big as a house and crossing my fingers he would just hurry up and get here so I could meet him. I finally got a bunch of pictures developed and going through them its amazing how much he has changed. He's growing up so fast! It's cool to see him do new things, but it's kind of bittersweet. I miss that tiny baby stage already!

We had a pretty eventful last week or so, now that Tony is back to work on the weekends we have to make the time during the week count! We went and saw transformers, much to my dismay, but I ended up liking it. Who knew a bunch of cars that turn into huge robots could be so cool? Jayden is an awesome movie companion, he just snuggles up on my chest and sleeps, and he gets in free, what more could you ask for?

We also spent our 1st and last night at Tony's house, his lease is up at the end of the month, so we went ahead and moved all his stuff on friday. Thanks mom and Derrick for all the help! Now we have the daunting task of trying to get everything put back together and organized. Fun!

Lots of shopping happened as pay day came on thursday, Jayden got very spoiled! Never before have we spent so much money at target and only came away with toilet paper and zip-loc baggies for ourselves! We finally got him a bumbo seat, which he absolutely loves! We had our first family dinner with him in it last night, what fun! And in order to try to fix this hatred of the car seat he also got a new baby einstien toy for his carrier, and a cd to listen to, so far it hasnt helped much, but we are hopeful!

Well I must cut this short, the little man is waking from his nap, off to grandmas we go for lunch! I will add some pics later, if I can get my stupid kodak software to start working! ahh the joys of technology....

We have been having so much fun with Tony home! Last weekend we went down town to show off Jayden at the art walk, which has inspired Tony to finally start painting again. We also celebrated Tony's 1st fathers day with a bbq at my parents house. Daddy and grandpa both got decorated picture frames from me and the little man.

Later in the week Jayden got to meet his cousin Athena, she was much more interested in clearing off the coffee table than playing though! We also had a family "date" and went to a matinee and dinner at Old Chicago. We saw Knocked up, it was hilarious! There were parts where both Tony and I were looking at each other going "that is SO true!" Jayden was a champ and nursed just as the movie was starting, and then slept contently on my chest until it was over.

Jayden has been smiling like crazy lately, he especially likes it when his grandma plays patty cake with him! He is getting so big! Friday was his 2 mo. well baby check and he now weighs 10lbs 14oz, and is 23 1/4" long. Go boob juice!

This weekend we went to Andrea's house, and Jayden got his first taste of a swimming pool. He loved it! He floated around for a good hour all relaxed in a special baby floaty. I think it wore him out though, after I dried him all off and changed him he promptly fell asleep!

a big update!

so, this is a little late, but Jayden Kai is here! he was born on april 28th, at 11:00 pm. he weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs, 8 1/2 oz. and was 19 3/4" long. we have spent the last 6 wks adjusting to life with a newborn, which i think is going quite well! it actually seems hard to remember what life was like without him, and he makes us blissfully happy. i catch myself just staring at him often, and as of the last week or so, we have been getting rewarded with big toothless grins! now that we are getting in the groove of things, i will try to do a better job of keeping this updated, so check back often!

So many things are getting ready to change! I am 39 and a half weeks pregnant with our little boy, Jayden Kai Solomon should be arriving any time now! Its funny to me how some days it feels like everything is normal, and then it hits me, oh my god, I could potentially go into labor any time. Tony and I will be talking about what is going on later in the week, and then he will go, well, if we arent in the hospital! Last friday I was officially done with work, so this week has been my time to get everything done and ready to go, although I will admit I havnt been quite as productive as I hoped...I guess im still waiting for that nesting thing to kick in! Im still baffled by all the things you have to do to get ready for a baby, its a little overwhelming, im just trying to get a few things done everyday...and hopefully we will be ready when he decides to grace us with presence! I have another dr's appointment on monday the 30th if I havnt gone into labor by then, so hopefully I will have some good news soon!
